Missouri is federally regulated when it comes to the certification of a nurse aide, and these guidelines require that as of the year 1994, every state must maintain a database of all nurse aides which are certified within their state. Also called the Nurse Aide Registry, this database has to be updated and kept for employment purposes. Furthermore, any person wishing to be listed on the registry has to complete a number of requirements to gain their CNA certification.
The nurse aide must go to an approved school that offers a nurse aide training program in their state. CNA training in Missouri is approved by the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services. After the program is finished, there is a required state nurse aide competency exam to be completed. Certification must be complete within 4 months from the commencement of employment at a licensed facility. Missouri currently has 16,620 jobs for the CNA position just in St. Louis alone.
Your CNA classes in Missouri that are approved and accredited to qualify you to sit for the licensing exam must provide you with a minimum of 175 hours, with 100 of these spend in a hands on clinical environment. When you register to take the exam, you will be required to bring along two forms of photo identification, and you may also be asked to bring along fingerprint ID cards, your graduation certificate, and a copy of your background check or health screening. Often, copies of several of these documents you may have already submitted with your preregistration packet and fees for the test.
Many of the CNA training facilities in Missouri are approved as testing sites, but you may need to test at an alternate location. You can check out approved test sites at the Missouri Nurse Aide Registry site, which is listed below for your convenience. Show up for the exam at least a half hour before your scheduled time, as you will need to check in and allow time for yourself to get mentally prepared to master the challenges of the exam.
The state of Missouri nurse aide exam is a 2 part test that is designed to test both learned theory and clinical skills. First, you will be assigned five or six random duties that you learned in your hands-on training experiences, and you must pass this section in order to sit for the second part of the test. Part two is a sixty question multiple choice quiz that will ask about theoretical situations, as well as cover numerous aspects of your classroom and practical training. If you pass, this means you have now fulfilled all requirements dictated by the state, and you will be put on the Missouri State Nurse Aide Registry.
