Idaho is currently a state where a licensed nurse aide is a very promising and highly in-demand career. In order to take part in this exciting career, you will need to become a certified CNA, and that involves taking courses approved by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. The cna training will include a required 120 hours in total.
The first 80 hours will be spent in the classroom learning several instructional techniques and general information. The remaining 40 hours will be spent outside the classroom getting hands on experience in a medical setting with real nurses and the patients. All of these courses are geared to help you successfully pass the state licensing examination so that you can get listed on the Idaho Nurse Aide Registry.
Course studies in the state approved program will go over the necessary aspects of being a nurse aide like being able to understand the patients needs and fulfill them, being ready for an emergency situation if it should arise, and knowing how to deal with it appropriately. It also covers being familiar with the rights of the patients and how to properly care for the patients and common nurse functions, such as how to check the pulse rate and how to handle respiratory failure in a patient.
In order to take the evaluation test after the CNA classes are compled, the nurse aide will need to register and get a scheduled time to appear for testing. Registration can be done online, over the phone or in person. You will be required to show a legal form of identification at the time of the test, and you may also be asked to bring a state issued fingerprint ID card. Dress comfortably, and iIt is best to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled testing time.
There is generally a fee of around $30 related to the test. The testing locations in a particular area can be found online, but many places of education and medical establishments are authorized as testing locations, as well. Test results are typically available right away, and if you pass the exam, you then receive your hard-earned CNA certification and placement on the state registry.
